Follow Bob Marley’s advice and ‘Stir It Up’ this Sunday

The sound of Bob Marley will be blasting out round my home this Sunday as the family gathers in the kitchen to ‘Stir It Up’.

Yes, it’s Stir Up Sunday, the last Sunday before Advent that traditionally saw families get together and make the Christmas pudding, Christmas cake or even both.

During the second half of the Twentieth Century the custom was largely forgotten about but in recent years it has been undergoing a revival, thanks in no small part to the success of the Great British Bake Off and the current trend for homebaking.

Message on a bottle for UK brewers – get behind our hops

Those of you who follow my blog will probably know by now that I’m a fan of ale.

Light, dark, strong, golden – each has its own wonderful character that helps prepare the palate for food and generally enhances the dining experience.

This week I got to try a wonderful new beer called Single Hopped Kentish Ale. Not only does it taste good but it also has a great story behind it.
