Shoppers are in for a welcome surprise this Christmas – sprouts are due to be much bigger than usual on account of unseasonably warm weather for much of the autumn.
And although temperatures dropped this week growers say that the general size of sprouts will still be about a third larger than average.
For much of the last four weeks to mid-November temperatures in the UK have been as high as 15C and the extra heat has boosted sprout growth.
Now that’s what I call whoppers – sprouts this year will be up to a third bigger.
It’s one of those things that can really help make a drinks party stand out – the perfect pairing of snacks with your tipples of choice.
But now, with the festive season soon upon us, Tesco has launched the UK’s first party snacks range with tipple recommendations on the packet.
For instance, if you want to impress guests with, say, a salted caramel flavoured nut mix then Tawny Port would go well because its full-bodied fruitiness heightens the taste of the nuts.
