Fire brigade alerted as I try world’s hottest chilli pepper

From this week Tesco will sell the world’s hottest chilli pepper, the notorious Carolina Reaper.

It’s a ferociously hot chilli pepper that has a heat rating of an incredible 1.52 million Scovilles. That’s more than 400 times hotter than a jalapeno, the chilli commonly used in spicy take away and supermarket pizzas.

This week I got my hands on some, courtesy of my friend Salv Genovese, the UK’s biggest chilli pepper grower, and as you can imagine I had an experience I’m not likely to forget in a very long time.
